I'm a PhD candidate in Sociocultural Anthropology at UC Berkeley, where I also earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree.
My dissertation project is focused on substandard housing, which is largely understood to be housing that poses risks to the health and wellbeing of inhabitants. I think about how substandard housing is materially and discursively produced, how harms to tenants are patterned in grossly unequal ways, and how various actors work to address it.
I conduct ethnographic research in Oakland, California, where I live with my family.
